Where’s the beef for corporate blogging?

I live in the corporate world, and there in an increasing push towards trying to leverage or use blogging and podcasts to get their message out. It seems rather oxymoronic…that blogging and podcasting have arisen because we desire to communicate with a much smaller, pre-selected, self-identified audience. NOT advertising, and NOT the messaging that corporations have worked to drown us in for the past many years.

I once worked at Real Networks, when it was founded as Progressive Networks. The mission to let anyone create a radio broadcast, and Y91 in Belgrade was held up as the epitome of empowering individuals to get their message out. Yet pretty quickly it became the default tool for lots of corporate crap, and it was built to invade every corner of a computer (tray, launch bar, etc.)…is that where we are headed? Is RSS going to enable us to drown ourselves?
